Obituary for Dorothy Peet Lenahan

Dorothy Peet Lenahan, 81, wife of the late Charles Edward Lenahan, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky on May 29, 1935 to the late Harry D. Peet, Jr., and Hazel Davis Peet. Dorothy was very proud of her father who was the first licensed pilot in Kentucky. Dorothy was a member of Gano Baptist Church where she enjoyed numerous church activities and was a member of the musical group The Sixtect. Dorothy graduated from Powell County High School in 1953 and went on to graduate from Morehead State College in 1956. She became a registered nurse in 1957 while attending the University of Kentucky between 1957-1960. She worked as a registered nurse for 44 years, and retired in 2004 from the offices of Dr. Bynum and Dr. High. She was a member of Big Spring D.A.R., Georgetown Woman's Club, Scott County Homemakers, a Kentucky Colonel, and was involved in Meals on Wheels for years, and in the past was a member of the Red Cross Board. She enjoyed sports, music, & flowers.

She is survived by her sons, Mark Edward (Mayda) Lenahan, of Littleton, Colorado, and Steve Scott (Brandy) Lenahan, of San Antonio, Texas, grandchildren, Sean Lenahan, Spencer Lenahan, and Riley Lenahan, and several nieces and nephews. Dorothy is preceded in death by a brother, Harrison Peet.

Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 pm Monday, with service on Tuesday, at 10:00 am, all at Gano Baptist Church with Rev. Harris Hargis officiating and Rev. Rob Muncy assisting. Burial will be in Georgetown Cemetery. Pallbearers are Ken C. Peet, Larry L. Peet, Randy Beckham, Jim McDonald, and Bruce Peet. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gano Baptist Church Building Fund, 212 Bevins Lane, Georgetown, Kentucky 40324.
