Obituary for Ernest H. Maples

Ernest H. Maples, 85, husband of Bernice Trimble Maples, passed Wednesday, April 4, 2018. He was born June 13, 1932 in Vicco, Virginia to the late Ernest and Essie Whited Maples. He attended the University of Kentucky where he graduated with a degree in business, was a member of Berea Christian Church where he was a Deacon and Elder for a number of years. Ernest enjoyed fruit and vegetable gardening, was involved with the Soap Box Derby, and was manager of a basketball team in Pikeville, Kentucky. He was in sales and retired from Sears. Ernest was a veteran in the United States Army.

Along with his wife, he is survived by sons, Todd (LuAnn) Maples of Georgetown, Kentucky, and Eric Mapels of Lexington, Kentucky; sisters, Betty Heitman and Joyce Wolford, both of Orlando, Florida; and two nieces. Ernest was preceded in death by brothers, Darius Maples, and Joe Maples, and sister, Margaret Hatfield;

Visitation will be 4:00 - 7:00 pm Sunday, at Tucker, Yocum, & Wilson Funeral Home. Service will be 10:30 am, Monday, at the funeral home with Brother Jimmy Carr, Brother Bill Stark, and Pastor Nic Skinner officiating. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers Jeff Carr, Jamie Johnson, Tom Stella, Joey Johnson, Clarence Murphy, and Lowell Tarter.
