Obituary for Jerry Lee Johnson

Jerry Lee Johnson, 73, husband of Vickie Parks Johnson, passed away February 10, 2018 in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born April 7, 1944 in Cynthiana, Kentucky to the late Buford Clay and Evelyn Clay Giles Johnson.

He retired from IBM, worked as a farmer, and later in life worked at the Kentucky Horse Park. He attended Georgetown College. Jerry loved the Lord as his Savior and was a member of Berea Christian Church where he was active in different church committees. He refereed for 50 years from 1963-2013 with KHSAA, was a member of KIAC and the Bluegrass Basketball Association. He played several instruments, enjoyed Bluegrass Music, and was active in clogging. Jerry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Along with his wife he is survived by his son, Jerry Clay (Billie) Johnson of Warsaw; daughter, Marti (David) Swift of Louisville; grandsons, Jared Lee Johnson and Spencer Clay Swift; and granddaughters, Jana Suzanne Johnson and Sloane Marie Swift.

Funeral services are 11am Friday, February 16, 2018 at Tucker, Yocum, & Wilson Funeral Home with Pastor Gene Welch and Pastor Jackie Miller officiating. Burial will be in Georgetown Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jerry Clay Johnson, Jared Lee Johnson, David Swift, Spencer Swift, Gary Pack, Sonny Hannah, and Michael Pack. Honorary bearers are Herman and Lucy Kidwell, Charlie Parks, Charles Russell Parks, and Richard Parks. Visiting hours are 5:00pm-8:00pm Thursday, February 15, 2018 at the funeral home.
