Obituary for Lois LaVerne Watson Griffin

Lois LaVerne Watson Griffin, 83, wife of 65 years to Reverend Doctor Orville H. Griffin, passed away August 5, 2017. She was born August 16, 1933, in Scott County, Kentucky to the late Arnold Eli and Lillie Mae Willhoit Watson. Lois was a 1951 graduate of Stamping Ground High School, where she was a member of the Debate and Speech Team. She also attended Fugazzi Business College. Lois was a member of the White Sulphur Baptist Church. She supported and encouraged the lifelong expression of ministry she and Orville shared. Lois was strong, full of love, always a smile, nurturing, compassionate, and an encourager.

Along with her husband, she is survived by her sons, Ronald Wayne (Charlotte) Griffin and Douglas Dean (Dawn) Griffin, daughter Lori Sue Griffin Haynes, and a niece she helped to raise, Kelley Lee Watson Zatorski, grandchildren, Nathan Griffin, Amy Griffin Smith, Amber Griffin Arnett, Kyle Griffin, Justin Haynes, Todd Koogler, and Whitney McConnell, great grandchildren, Hannah Griffin, Emma Smith, Gage Griffin, Todd Koogler, Jr., Samantha Koogler, Randall Kyle Arnett, and Daniel Arnett, brother, Fred Watson, sisters, Linda Carol Power and Lillie Furne Spaulding. She was preceded in death by brothers, Walter Alford Watson, Roy Thomas Watson, Arnold Edgar Watson, and Donald Gene Watson.

Visitation will be 10am until time of service at 12pm, Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home with Reverend John Cravens officiating. Burial will follow at Masonic Cemetery with Justin Haynes, Kyle Griffin, Randal Kyle Arnett, Evan Spaulding, Mark Watson, Thomas Watson, and Duane Power serving as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to: State Convention of Baptists in Ohio, 9000 Antares Ave., Columbus, OH 43240. Condolences for the family may be left at www.tuckeryocumwilson.com
