Robert "Bob" Edward Lee Parker, age 69 and husband of 50 years to Mary Ruth Williams Parker, passed away, Thursday, November 1, 2018 after a courageous and inspiring battle with cancer.

Bob was born in Scott County, Kentucky on May 30, 1949, and was the son of the late Charles Leon Parker and Ruby Faye Brannock Parker.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two children: Robert "Rob/Robin" Lee Parker (Melissa Breiner Parker) of Lexington, Kentucky and Katherine "Kathy" Ruth Parker (Dan'elle Sluder) of Greer, South Carolina and two grandchildren: Mackenzie Lee Parker and Carson Clay Parker. He is also survived by his siblings: Faye (Harold) Marshall of Georgetown, Kentucky, Molly Carroll of Sadieville, Kentucky, Judy (Bill) Thompson of Shepherdsville, Kentucky and George (Nellie) Parker of Georgetown, Kentucky, sister in law: Joyce Parker, brother in law: John Kitchen, multiple nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Sally Clay Parker Kitchen, a brother, Don Leon (Sonny) Parker and brother in law, James (Gee) Williams and Oliver Carroll.

Bob was a member of Oxford Christian Church. He retired in April 2009 after 42 years with Johnson Controls Inc. where he was a Sr. Capital Equipment and Tooling Buyer and Manufacturing Engineer for nine plants in the U.S. and two plants in England. Bob owned and operated Bob's Car Wash in Georgetown from 1970-1986. He was a friend and advocate for the youth of Scott County. Bob extended his parking lot to give the young people a place to socialize in Scott County. He served as President of Scott County Youth Basketball "Junior Pro", then later served on the board. While President he created the instructional league and funded SCYB participants, players and cheerleaders, making sure each received a trophy. Bob believed each child should be recognized and celebrated. Bob was a faithful UK basketball fan and attended home games and traveled to away games and tournaments. He was an avid knife collector and was privileged to be friends with Master Cutler Stan Shaw and his wife Rosemary in England. He enjoyed building knives and spent many hours studying Mr. Shaw's techniques. Bob was a member of Central Kentucky Knife Club and also served as a Director. He was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel in 2006.

Bob's visitation will be Monday, November 5, 2018 from 4pm to 8pm at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home. His service will be Tuesday, at 12 noon at the funeral home with Minister Chris Cash officiating. Burial will follow at Georgetown Cemetery with Mark Carroll, Robert Dunn, Noah Cain, Taylor Whitlock, Michael Whitlock and Dwight Offutt serving as pallbearers. Honorary bearers will be: Stan and Rosemary Shaw, Dr. Adam Rojan, Dr. Phuong Ngo, Rusty Moss, Glenn Williams, Joe Arnold, William Haugh, Dennis Carwile, Everett Lee, John Jones, Bob Wright, Bob Gregory, Burford Feltner, Tony Maltese, Steve Whitlock, Mike Lee, Dan Bolling, Paul Duncan, Charles Clifton, David King, Damon Booth and Central Kentucky Knife Club Officers and Members.
