Obituary for Harold Lee Hamilton

Harold Lee Hamilton, age 100 and the husband of Myrtle Friedly Hamilton, passed away in Georgetown on Friday, April 13, 2018. He was born in Sadieville, Kentucky to the late Raymond Lee and Elizabeth Michael Hamilton on August 24, 1917.

Harold was a founding member of Central Church of God, where he served on the Board of Trustees, was a former song leader and a Sunday School Teacher.
He was a life time member of the American Legions, was a Kentucky Colonel, played Minor League Baseball, and was a member of The Hamiltons, who sang around the area, including Renfro Valley. He was a farmer and a former Foreman at Hydro Plastics. Harold was a World War II Army veteran. He was a Tech Sargent, with Campaigns in Southern Philippines, Luzon and New Guinea. Harold received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon W/3 Bronze Stars, and received a letter of commendation from Major General Chase, that stated that Harold and the members of his company captured a Filipino Collaborator , Pio Duran, who was the number one public enemy of the Philippines and a Minister of Finances for the Japanese Army. Harold loved his family and enjoyed serving the Lord.

Harold is survived by his wife, Myrtle, daughter Brenda Wright, granddaughter, Denise (Bill) Hoffman and great grandchildren, Lexi and Dustin Hoffman, all of Georgetown. He is also survived by his sister Wanda June Slone of Charleston, South Carolina and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Graves, brothers, Leon Hamilton, Clarence Hamilton and Howard Hamilton, and his son in law, George "Lucky" Wright.

Visitation of family and friends will be 5 to 8 on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home. A service will be 11 am on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Central Church of God, with Rev. Sam Glenn and Rev. Lowell Rice officiating. Burial will follow the service at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens with pallbearers being Mike Hamilton, Bobby Hamilton, Larry Wilhoite, David Wilhoite, Marvin Yeary, Tom Yeary and Tim Rutledge. Honorary bearers will be Ben Calvert, Bill Dawson, Billy Dalzell, Donald Scott and Charlie Alexander.
